La Jolie Maison

Thank you for a pleasurable stay in a characterful village.  Especially well-equipped in the kitchen department!  We must return when the flower beds are full – it must be a picture!

We enjoyed our week in La Jolie Maison, the walks around the lake and the pretty village.

We drove to Arromanche which is about 2 hrs away and saw the Mulberry Harbour and visited the Museum.  We then proceeded along the coast passing Gold, Juno and Sword Beaches to Jupiter Bridge.  We were enthralled by the Museum there – well worth a visit.

We also visited Fougeres ¾ hr away & loved the Chateau.  From there we went to Dinan which is another hour further on – a beautiful old town – very picturesque.

We were caught out because Monday is not a day to visit places as everywhere seemed closed.

Domfront was a particular favourite and we enjoyed the Wednesday market at Gorron.

In St Fraimbault:

·      The Coquelicot at the end of the village.  Ate there Saturday.  3 courses 15 Euros.  Enjoyed it but only ones there!

·      Irish Pub across the road.  Eddie & Bridget were friendly & they serve good Guiness!

·      Boulangerie – lovely bread

·      Boucherie – lovely saucisses very big so could only manage one each.  Closed Mon.

·      Mini-market – good supply if you run out.  Tended to use Lidl in Gorron.

What a character cottage in a beautiful village. We really enjoyed our stay. We had wonderful weather, loved the local sausage & boulangerie. We were lucky to see a wedding at the church, which was an added bonus!

Eddie and Bridget (from The Irish Pub) were so welcoming, gave us tips & hints on places to visit and the Guinness slipped down a treat! Our favourite places to visit were Le Mont St. Michel although touristy and very expensive, and the lovely fishing village of Cancal, although a bit of a drive! A lovely relaxing week after a busy time with our sons wedding!xxx

What a beautiful village. Locals very welcoming, especially in pub opposite.  They made us and the children very welcome. We enjoyed a day in Domfront, Cité Medieval, and on advise from the pub we even found a French Car Booty! (and Casino!) in Bagnoles (every Sunday). A truly fab occasion, great town with lots of character, places to eat, etc. (do not park in blue bays in High Street, you need a disc). The lake in St. Fraimbault is a must, a really lovely walk, topped off with a glass of wine and freshly cooked crepe! Out of personal preference we would prefer a little more privacy in garden but French neighbours were very friendly.

Thanks for a lovely stay and beautiful quiche.

A great village with lots of character.  Cottage very comfortable and full of character. We made good use of village facilities, meal in The Coquelicot, pedaloes, regular use of the boulangerie. Irish Pub was very welcoming.

During our stay we went to D-Day Landing Beaches trip took about two hours - very interesting and memorable experience especially Omaha Beach and American War Cemetery. Domfront worth a visit. Le Mont St. Michel - worth arriving early as very popular!

Well equipped, pretty, clean cottage. The Flower Festival in the village was really lovely even if dampened by the pouring rain.
Mont St. Michel a must but be prepared to queue (it took us over an hour to get out of the car park) so you might want to park outside area and walk in. Another very memorable day was the American War Cemetery (take a tissue) surprisingly beautiful and calming. Walk along Omaha beach. The coast road to Arromanche was beautiful and you can park at the top for panoramic view and walk into the town. Visit the 360 cinema (another tissue). Have fun at the manmade beach a La Ferte Mace - lots of fun things for the children to do.

We had a lovely time here. The cottage is lovely and had everything we needed. We all enjoyed the local Parc de Loisirs - Gorron has canoeing, tree top assault courses. Ambrieres Open Air Pool was fab but they wanted the boy;s in Speedo's not baggy shorts! St. Loup du Gast Velo-Rail was excellent fun and we enjoyed the local lake and activities including pedalos and mini-golf.
Man made beach at La Ferte Macé was great, warm water, nice sand. There is also a massive Hypermarket there and a lovely toy shop opposite.
Thanks.

We came for a rest and quiet(ish) time & feel we achieved that!  We had our 9 year old son with us & he particularly enjoyed the covered swimming pool at Gorron.  We had a beautiful & memorable meal at 'The Beverly' Restaurant in Bagnoles Chateau.  Excellent real home cooked french food.  Would recommend it.

La Belle Maison

We just wanted to say a really big thank you for allowing us to stay at your lovely little cottage, La Belle Maison. We had a fabulous time there & enjoyed visiting all of those pretty villages & travelling further afield to Mont St Michel, which I think is a must to all visitors. We walked into St Fraimbault each day to buy our bread & then walked around the lake during the evening time. Lucy did a shop for us & made a superb Victoria sandwich - it was most welcome arriving there & seeing all of my pre ordered goodies.

Overall a brilliant little break away; we just wish that we could have stayed for longer. We would love to return to your cottage in future - as we would like to see St Fraimbault when the flowers are blooming. Best wishes & thank you once again

Had a wonderful time in St Fraimbault.  Visited many pretty villages and towns.  Liked Mayenne and Fougeres.  Must visit Mont St Michel (approx 1 ¼ hr away) and The American Cemetery.  Weather can be changeable with minutes from brilliant sunshine to drizzly rain – take a raincoat and brolly with you!  Lovely cottage and really enjoyed our time here.

Felt that we lived the French life in this beautiful cottage and fabulous village.  You must see Mont St Michel.  St Malo – well worth the 1 hour &15 minutes drive.  Domfront is good.  Bagnoles is a must see.

What a beautiful village 'The Flower Village'.  Went to the boating pond and played ‘crazy golf’ in the woods.  Still couldn’t find hole 7!  Madame’s crepes were very nice too!  Mont St Michel was truly amazing although the food and drink a tad expensive.  Visited Domfront, Bagnoles (nice shops, restaurants) and also a boating lake.  A must is the Chateau Carrouges for castle levers.  There is a nice pizza pace in Passais (5km away) owned by an English coupe.  The village is lovely & must see the garden competition beside the boating pond.  It’s quite unique.  It is very quiet here, think everyone goes to bed at 9 o’clock.  The house itself is very clean and very French.  Can get hot in the attic room but the fan came in useful.  All in all very relaxing time and saw some lovely French buildings and rural French scenery.  Au revoir!
